The delivery of the first FORMIDABLE class of Stealth Frigates underscores the Integrated Programme Management Team's expertise and ability in managing state-of-the-art complex large-scale programme. The team successfully integrated more than 15 combat systems onboard the frigate to meet the Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN) unique operational requirements. The frigate is equipped with advanced systems and stealth technology which provide the RSN with a high degree of combat capability and versatility. This allows the RSN to counter threats in all dimensions of naval warfare. The advanced ship management system and other sophisticated automation features incorporated enable a crew of 71 to operate the ship and control its numerous combat and shipboard systems effectively. It would require a crew of more than 150 to run a conventional frigate of similar size and capability.

The Frigate programme demonstrated the synergy between the Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA), DSO National Laboratories (DSO), the RSN and Singapore Technologies (ST) Marine and Electronics. In recognition of the team's programme management skills and their creative use of technologies to customise solutions that augment the Navy's defence capability, the team is awarded the DTP 2007 Team (Engineering) Award.
