Internship Programmes Efficient Algorithms for Static and Dynamic Analysis of Terrain
Discipline: Computer science, computational science, algorithms, graphical user interface
Project Description: The project aims to develop efficient algorithms for static and dynamic analysis of terrain and to build a prototype to demonstrate the algorithms. The student is expected to search for open-source tools and libraries to support this work. The algorithms may be used for terrain analysis or in simulations.
The challenge of the project: Algorithms for LOS computations are easily available. However to perform the LOS computations for a large area is computationally intensive, particularly if this computation may have to be repeated many times. Can efficient algorithms be developed to minimize the processing time as well as computing resources (i.e. memory)?
Pre-requisite: Interest in algorithm development, programming skill in Java |
