Ionosphere Tomography

The project aims to:
Apply tomography algorithm to re-construct the vertical structure of ionosphere by using GPS measurements.

The challenge of the project:
Ionosphere affects space-ground telecommunications. A good understanding of ionosphere helps the telecommunication link design and satellite image processing.

The ionosphere exhibits changes with respect to time and location. In order to improve space-ground telecommunications, we need to know the ionospheric variations.  This project involves the development of a numerical model using tomography technology. The new idea is to incorporate Global Positioning System (GPS) data to provide a real-time characterization of the ionosphere, so as to improve the space-ground telecommunications over the equatorial region.

Pre-requisite:
Interest in algorithm development, basic programming skill in MATLAB
