Cryptography Quiz

Cryptography is the art and science of data scrambling and deciphering codes.

We make use of data scrambling whenever we use a password to log into our email accounts, withdraw money from an automated bank teller machine, or purchase over the Internet. We rely on encryption to ensure the validity of our transactions, prove our identity and safeguard our privacy.

Jointly organised by DSO and Temasek Laboratories@NUS (TL@NUS), the Cryptography Quiz aims to raise awareness and cultivate interest in this field.

DSO Amazing Series of Competitions

The DSO Amazing Series of Competitions is an interactive platform that seeks to nurture and unleash the inventor in each of us. Through competitions that are unique, inspiring and fun, we challenge our participants to open their minds, and discover the creative sparks within. Unlike other competitions, the Amazing Series of Competitions have been designed with a focus on providing an enriching and educational learning journey for participants. This learning journey includes special workshops conducted by expert speakers, clinics and interesting industry related visits.

Proudly conceptualised and organised with industry partners, these premier competitions bring art and science together, challenging participants to dream, design and build something they never thought possible!

As part of our continuous effort to engage and interest the younger generation in science and technology, DSO is proud to co-organise the Amazing Science-X Challenge (ASXC) with Science Centre Singapore, the third competition in our Amazing Series of Competitions!

For this challenge, participants are encouraged to Xplore, Xperiment, and create an Xciting Xhibit that best Xplains a physical science phenomenon.

Following the Singapore Amazing Machine Competition (SAMC) and Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC), ASXC has certainly been another creative competition that promises an enriching learning experience for science enthusiasts of all ages.

Hailed as the first and largest scale flying machine competition in Singapore, the Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC) is also the largest talent outreach event ever organised by DSO, in collaboration with Science Centre Singapore.

Open to anyone who wants to reach for the sky, participants are challenged to tap on their science knowledge and creativity to design and build their own flying machine that can fly faster, higher and further.  Fun activities and dedicated clinic sessions are also organised to boost the participants’ creativity and problem solving skills.

Jointly organised by DSO, Science Centre Singapore, National University High School of Mathematics and Science and the School of Science and Technology Singapore, the Singapore Amazing Machine Competition (SAMC) is a premier competition opened to all budding scientists and engineers from upper primary to Junior College Year One.

Teams are required to think out-of-the-box, and use their wildest imagination and resourcefulness to create a Rube Goldberg machine - an elaborate machine that uses the most number of complex steps to complete a simple task.

It is disbelieving, but it is certainly easier said than done!
