Jointly organised by DSO, Science Centre SIngapore (SCS) and the National University High School of Mathematics and Science, the Singapore Amazing Machine Competition (SAMC) is a premier competition opened to all budding scientists and engineers from upper primary and lower secondary school levels.
Held on 22 August 2009, teams were required to think out-of-the-box, and use their wildest imagination and resourcefulness to create a Rube Goldberg machine - an elaborate machine that uses the most number of complex steps to complete a simple task.
It's disbelieving, but it's certainly easier said than done!

For this challenge, participants werte encouraged to Xplore, Xperiment, and create an Xciting Xhibit that best Xplains a physical science phenomenon.
Following the Singapore Amazing Machine Competition (SAMC) and recent Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC), ASXC has certainly been another creative competition that promises an enriching learning experience for science enthusiasts of all ages. Registration for ASXC 2010 is now open, and with bigger prizes, you would not want to miss it! Visit the ASXC website to find out more, or click here to read more about ASXC 2009.
