Broadband Micro-strip Circuits

Project Description :
Micro-strips are the most common form of transmission line circuit for manipulating microwave signals. Typical microwave manipulation includes splitting the input signal into two paths with 0, 90 and 180 degree phase difference. These functions are achieved through power dividers, couplers, baluns and hybrid circuits. These circuits normally have a limited frequency band of operation. In this project, techniques to broaden the operating frequency bands of these circuits will be studied. The work involves literature search into broadband techniques as well as circuit design and analysis through commercial CAE. The student will gain appreciation of microwave circuit performance trade-offs and experience in circuit design though microwave circuit CAE.
