Project Description :
The objective of this project is to investigate and apply Kalman filter for tracking radar targets. At the end of the project, the student will have developed a Matlab computer simulation demonstrating the tracking of radar target parameters with a suitable Kalman filter technique.

The main stages of project work include:

1) Conducting literature survey of application of Kalman filter to radar target tracking. This is to familiarise the student with the concepts of Kalman filter and radar tracking.

2) Demonstrating the basic application of Kalman filter in estimation and prediction with computer simulation. After understanding the theory and application of Kalman filtering, the student is able to develop a basic tracking application using Kalman filter in Matlab.

3) Based on the Kalman filter tracking algorithm developed in stage (2), the student will build a Matlab computer simulation demonstrating the tracking of target angles, range and velocity with moving radar and target.
