Functional Electromagnetic (EM) Materials

Materials are making significant impact to a broad spectrum of applications, from defence systems to consumer goods. It can enable aggressive miniaturisation of functional elements, which will allow us to do more with less, as well as realise disruptive applications.

One aspect of DSO's work is to develop materials with desired EM properties. In order to understand and optimise the materials for use on weight-critical platforms, DSO characterises their microstructure and elemental compositions. A scanning electron microscope paired with an energy-dispersive X-Ray spectrometer can enable this function.
